The adoption of Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) technology represents a transformative approach in the development of universal accessibility projects. As urban environments strive to become more inclusive, MiC offers a streamlined, efficient, and flexible solution for designing and constructing structures that cater to diverse needs. By utilizing pre-fabricated modules, this technology not only accelerates the construction timeline but also enhances quality control, improve working environment and site safety, reduces waste and aligning with sustainable building practices.
We, Mannings (Asia) Consultants Limited (MACL), were actively involved in the “Universal Accessibility Project” by retrofitting lifts to pedestrian walkways. To overcome challenges such as space constraints and limited construction timeline, MACL has embraced with this forward-thinking construction method. This innovative approach entails pre-assembling lift components and electromechanical setups in factories, allowing for simultaneous work on relocating underground utilities and constructing lift foundations and core walls. By reducing the necessity for on-site installation, this method enhances construction efficiency and safety while also cutting construction time by as much as 6 months compared to conventional approaches. Consequently, MACL has successfully completed / nearing completion of 10 nos. of MiC lifts that under our direct supervision, with numerous of MiC lifts that were designed by us as the Contractor’s Designer. This progress ensures project fulfilment and lift availability by the year’s end, addressing the pressing needs of nearby residents. With our active involvement in the adoption of MiC technology, we pave the way for more inclusive communities that prioritize accessibility as a fundamental right.
