Mannings has assisted JV to win and acted as Noise Barriers Designer for the project, Trunk Road T4 and Associated Works, using Design and Build Contract. The aim of the project is to form the road network in the Sha Tin area by providing a direct route linking the existing trunk roads on both sides of Shing Mun River Channel, connecting to Sha Tin Road in the east and Shing Mun Tunnel Road/Tsing Sha Highway in the west for catering the high traffic volume at Tai Po Road (Sha Tin Section) and some local roads. The journey time between Ma On Shan town centre and Shing Mun Tunnel Road/Tsing Sha Highway during peak hours will be reduced from about 20 minutes at present to about 12 minutes upon completion of the proposed Project.
This project primarily comprises approximately 2.3 kilometers in length with slip roads connecting Shing Mun Tunnel Road/Tsing Sha Highway and Sha Tin Road, which introduces the early participation of a contractor in the design work to fully utilise the construction experience in designing and selecting the most cost-effective construction methods for the major parts of the project. The scope of works mainly comprises the bridge structures of elevated traffic road, depressed road, underpass, noise barriers structures, elevated footpath cum cycle track and others ancillary works.
Our scope work is designing the noise barrier structures including vertical noise barrier, cantilevered noise barrier, semi-enclosure and full enclosure in engineering and appearance aspect along the section between Lion Rock Tunnel Road to Sha Tin Road.
The works contract includes detailed design and construction works commenced in August 2024 for completion in 6 years.
