This is a HyD assignment for an I, D&C consultancy for an elevator system between Kai Tin Road and Lei Yue Mun Road. Due to the hilly terrain in Lam Tin, there is a great public demand for barrier-free access (BFA) and facilities to and from the Lam Tin MTR Station. An elevator system linking up Kai Tin Road and Lei Yue Mun Road is proposed so as to help the elderly and physically impaired persons move around more easily. The key elements of the conceived elevator system include an approximately 100m long subway between Lei On Court and Kai Tin Road sitting-out area, a 55m high vertical lift shaft from the subway to Kai Tin Road sitting-out area and an associated covered walkway connecting Lei Yue Mun Road and entrance/exit of the subway at Lei On Court. This is our first project applying the technique of tunnel boring to form the passage for pedestrian.
