Extension of Footbridge Network in Tsuen Wan - Footbridge B along Tai Chung Road and Hoi Shing Road - Design and Construction

We were employed by Highways Department. The scope of the Project includes: (a) construction of a covered footbridge system and associated barrier free access facilities (BFA) and/or staircases, along Tai Chung Road and Hoi Shing Road; (b) modification of existing footbridges to fit in with the new footbridges; (c) modification/reprovisioning works to the footpaths and carriageways affected; and (d) associated drainage, traffic aids installation, landscape and lighting works.

Upgrading of Remaining Sections of Kam Tin Road and Lam Kam Road - Investigation

We were employed by Highways Department. The scope of the Project includes: (a) upgrading of the remaining unimproved sections of Kam Tin Road (between Fan Kam Road and Lam Kam Road) and Lam Kam Road; (b) upgrading of the road section of Kam Tin Road (between Tung Wui Road and Fan Kam Road); and (c) provision of footpaths on both sides (if site conditions do not allow, 2 m wide footpath on one side will be acceptable) and associated improvement of pedestrian facilities, public transport lay-bys and right-turning lanes at major junctions.

Pedestrian Link near Chuk Yuen North Estate - Design and Construction

We were employed by Highways Department. The scope of the Project includes: (a) construction of covered pedestrian link with escalators and pedestrian subway(s) between Chuk Yuen North Estate and the PTT near Wong Tai Sin Road; (b) construction of an approximately a covered walkway along the slope crest near Chuk Yuen North Estate to connect the elevated pedestrian link with Chuk Yuen North Estate and the adjacent public footpath; (c) realignment of the section of Shatin Pass Road between Chuk Yuen Road and Wong Tai Sin Road, and respective road junctions at Shatin Pass Road and Chuk Yuen Road/ Lung Fung Street/ Ming Fung Street including their at-grade crossings; (d) provision of barrier free facilities to facilitate use of the proposed pedestrian link by persons with disabilities; and (e) associated works including roads and drains, access reprovisioning, electrical and mechanical works, building services, landscaping and tree transplanting, street improvement / beautification, utility diversion, environmental impact mitigation and temporary traffic arrangements during construction of the Project.

Monitoring and Auditing for Design, Site Investigation and Construction of Entrustment Works for West Kowloon Cultural District Project - Investigation

We are to provide monitoring and auditing services to Civil Engineering and Development Department in relation to the entrusted work undertaken by WKCDA (including its consultants, contractors, and/or agents) under the Integrated Basement and Public Infrastructure Works projects with a view to providing assurance that WKCDA’s obligations stated in the relevant entrustment agreements have been properly fulfilled. The monitoring and auditing shall focus on cost, programme, public safety and quality of the entrusted works.

Retrofitting of Noise Barriers on Long Tin Road and Ma Wang Road – Investigation, Design and Construction

We were employed by Highways Department. The Project comprises 2 individual packages of noise barriers in Yuen Long: Package 1 – Retrofitting of Noise Barriers on Long Tin Road, and Package 2 – Retrofitting of Noise Barriers on Ma Wang Road.
The scope of Package 1 comprises construction of the following principal work elements:-
(a) retrofitting of two sections of cantilevered noise barriers along the eastern roadside verge and cycle track of Long Tin Road fronting Parkside Villa, Scenic Garden and Towers 1 to 9 of Park Royale; and (b) ancillary civil and geotechnical, utility diversion, street lighting, landscaping, traffic aids, drainage and other related works.
The scope of Package 2 comprises construction of the following principal work elements:-
(a) retrofitting of cantilevered noise barriers along Ma Wang Road fronting Shui Pin Wai Estate; and (b) ancillary civil and geotechnical, utility diversion, street lighting, landscaping, traffic aids, drainage and other related works.

Lift and Pedestrian Walkway System between Tai Wo Hau Road and Wo Tong Tsui Street, Kwai Chung - Design and Construction

We were employed by Highways Department. The scope of the Project includes:
(a) Construction of a covered inclined lift system and a provision of inclined lifts at Wo Tong Tsui Street near its junction with Kwai Hing Road to connect to Tai Wo Hau Road; and (b) Ancillary works, including associated road, geotechnical, drainage, landscaping, street improvement, public lighting, utilities, electrical and mechanical works, etc.

Cycle Tracks from Tuen Mun to Sheung Shui – Remaining Works - Design and Construction

We were employed by Civil Engineering and Development Department. The scope of the Project comprises mainly the works under the Contract No. YL/2015/01 (the Works Contract) with the following major items:- (a) a new cycle track (with footpath) from Kam Tin River in Yuen Long to Sheung Yue River in Sheung Shui; (b) bridges across an existing channel near San Tin Tsuen Road at Shek Wu Wai; across San Tin Eastern Channel near Castle Peak Road – Chau Tau in Yuen Long; and across Shek Sheung River in Sheung Shui respectively; (c) subways across Kam Pok Road and near the Cross Boundary Shuttle Bus San Tin Terminus in Yuen Long respectively; (d) resting stations at Kam Pok Road, Ngau Tam Mei Drainage Channel and Castle Peak Road – San Tin in Yuen Long respectively and provision of supporting facilities including bicycle parking spaces, shelters and benches at the proposed resting stations; (e) a public toilet with bio-treatment facilities at Ho Sheung Heung; (f) associated landscaping, traffic aids and signaling works, street lightings, utilities, irrigation, geotechnical and other miscellaneous works including the reprovisioning of staircases and pedestrian ramps, for completion of the works as well as improvement works to a section of existing cycle track in Tuen Mun; and (g) implementation of environmental mitigation measures and an environmental monitoring and audit (EM&A) programme for the works mentioned in (a) to (f) as shown above.

Reviewing 9 Sections of the General Specification for Civil Engineering Works (GS) Under HyD’s Purview – Investigation

We were employed by Highways Department. The main objectives of the Assignment are: (a) to comprehensively review the standards adopted in the 9 sections of the GS and mentioned in the Guidance Notes, including the cross-section obsolete standards, identify new versions of the standards and/or other new standards and propose suitable replacements for the standards where appropriate; (b) to study the relevant clauses in the GS and the Guidance Notes and propose amendments in line with the proposed replacements for the standards; (c) to check the local availability of materials and testing supports required for the proposed standards and consult relevant stakeholders including concerned government departments, the construction industry, material suppliers and testing laboratories about the proposed amendments above; and (d) to liaise with the relevant stakeholders for finalizing the proposed amendments and for their implementation.

Lift and Pedestrian Walkway System between Kwai Shing Circuit and Hing Shing Road, Kwai Chung– Design and Construction

We were employed by Highways Department. The scope of the Project includes: (a) Construction of lift shafts adjacent to Hing Shing Road; (b) construction of an elevated covered walkway to connect the lift shafts and Kwai Shing Circuit; (c) widening of the southern footpath along Kwai Shing Circuit between Shing Fuk Street and Hing Shing Road; (d) widening of the western footpath along Ko Fong Street; (e) reconstruction of the existing footpath(s) / carriageway(s) and demolition / reprovisioning of LCSD’s facilities which are affected by the above works; and (f) associated roadworks, drainage works, diversions of water mains, storm water drains and utilities, geotechnical works, landscape works, street improvement/beautification works, street lighting works, environmental mitigation measures and temporary traffic arrangements during construction.

Advisory Services on New Engineering Contract in Pre-contract Stage for the Project “9357WF-1 – Design and Construction for First Stage of Desalination Plant at Tseung Kwan O – Mainlaying”

We were employed by Water Supplies Department to advise on the adoption of the NEC for the Project. The main objectives of the Assignment are: (i) to advise the packaging of contracts of the works to align with principles of the NEC and address any key issues identified during adoption of the NEC for the Project; (ii) to prepare tender documents for the Project in a form compatible with the NEC; (iii) to assist the Director's Representative (DR) in resolving any difficulties encountered in implementing the NEC during the design and tendering stages of the Project to ensure smooth and successful implementation of this project.

Service Quotation for Providing Assistance to Highways Department in Public Consultation for Selection of Existing Walkways for the Second Phase of the Universal Accessibility Programme (New Territories Districts)

We were employed by Highways Department to consult DCs for the selection of another batch of existing walkways from the enlarged pool of eligible walkways for retrofitting of lifts under the second phase of the UA Programme. The objective of the Assignment is to provide assistance to the Client in preparing public consultation materials and conducting public consultation exercise in relation to the invitation of the DCs in the New Territories Districts to select existing walkways in each district for retrofitting of lifts under the second phase of the UA programme.

We were employed by Highways Department. The scope of the Project comprised: (a) Upgrading of the Northern Section and part of the Southern Section (from Shui Kan Shek to junction with Wan Toi Shan Shan Tsuen Road (WTSSTR)) of Fan Kam Road with footpaths on both sides where appropriate; (b) Upgrading of WTSSTR into a standard single two-way carriageway with footpaths on both sides (Southern Bypass); (c) Conversion of the section of Fan Kam Road between junction with WTSSTR and junction with Kam Tin Road from the existing two-way road into a standard one-way road with footpaths on both sides; (d) Reconstruction of Tam Shui Hang Vehicular Bridge (near International Riding Centre); and (e) Widening and sightline improvement at junctions and road bends

We were employed by Highways Department. The Project comprised 2 individual packages of noise barriers in Tuen Mun –Package 1 – Retrofitting of Noise Barriers on Tuen Mun Road (Town Centre Section) (PWP Item No. 6810TH); and Package 2 – Retrofitting of Noise Barriers on Tuen Mun Road (Fu Tei Section) (PWP Item No. 6814TH). Package 1 covered existing Tuen Mun Road section between Kam Hing Building and Lakeshore Building. Package 2 covered existing Tuen Mun Road section between Brilliant Garden and Lam Tei Interchange. These two road sections are proposed to be retrofitted with noise barriers/enclosures.

We were employed by Civil Engineering and Develpment Department. The proposed scope of the Project comprised the following principal works elements: (a) traffic and pedestrian improvement works; (b) modification/relocation of the public transport interchange facilities; (c) provision of a public open space in front of Sai Kung Public Pier; (d) provision of a lookout point and boardwalk; and (e) associated environmental mitigation measures, utility diversion, street lighting, traffic aids, drainage works, landscaping and streetscape enhancement works and other related improvement/reprovisioning works.

Replacement of Corroded Bearings of Kai Fuk Road Flyover (Structure No. K58) Connecting Kai Fuk Road and Kwun Tong Road – Investigation

We were employed by Highways Department. The scope of the Project comprised: (a) Structural investigation of bearing replacement options by examining the design calculations and as-built drawings of the Bridge and carrying out design checking of the structural implication on the Bridge for the bearing replacement options; (b) Determination of the structural feasibility of the bearing replacement options investigated; (c) Comparison of feasible options and recommendation of bearing replacement scheme; and; and (d) Determination of the implementation methods, procedures and other details of the recommended scheme for the Bridge.

N717 and along the road side verges of both the southbound and northbound carriageways of San Tin highway respectively near Ha San Wai and San Wai Tsuen (Portion B); (c) vertical noise barriers along the road side verge of the southbound carriageway of San Tin Highway near Casa Paradizo and Maple Gardens (Portion C); (d) vertical noise barriers along the road side verge of the northbound carriageway of San Tin Highway near Mai Po San Tsuen (Portion D); and (e) associated roadworks, utilities diversion, street lighting, traffic aids, drainage and landscaping works.

Provision of Access Facilities for the Disabled at Existing Footbridges and Subways, Phase 3 (Remainder) –Investigation

We were employed by Highways Department. The assignment was a continuation of the investigation study on various footbridge, subway, footpath at flyover locations. At each of these structures, all the possible options have been investigated for the feasibility of the retrofitting work in order of their merits whilst the preliminary scheme identified (as shown in the sketches of this brief) should only be taken as reference and have not limited either the scope or extent of the final feasible scheme of the retrofitting work.
